TripManhattan, 2006
Back in 2006, Tripmanhattan took the decision to professionally record an EP, ‘3rd Favourite Chord’ of their most polished songs. Several days in illustrious Fairview Studio in Willerby burned through the money earned from a couple of years of gigging. Caroline Seymour had recently replaced Jane Watkins on mic, bringing an edgier, rockier sound and performance that begged to be captured. More music was written and the money found to develop an entire album.
While never published by a record label, ‘5th Street Station’ was fairly widely distributed at gigs. Some people might even have one of the rare unsigned copies.
Never intended as a concept album, it nevertheless revolves around themes of urban society. Unashamedly a rock album, the tracks are musically diverse, and the songwriting stands the test of time.
You can listen to it from the Soundcloud player above, or directly on Tidal in full, uncompressed studio quality.
